There are many checks and precautions
that should be taken to ensure the integrity of all teachers.
We would recommend that all students ask any prospective
teacher about their qualifications, membership of teaching
bodies and if they have a disclosure certificate from
the Criminal Records Bureau. (The CRB check normally applies
to any teacher involved in state school education. You
will find that any teacher who is a member of the ISM
will have the necessary certificate). If you feel that
you need to see proof of qualifications or any other documents
do not be afraid to ask the teacher. Always act with caution
and if you are a child ensure that your parent or guardian
attends the first meeting or lesson.
